Man Arrested at Indio Elementary School After Gun and Drugs Found in Vehicle
A 27-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon at Andrew Jackson Elementary School after police allegedly discovered a firearm and narcotics inside his vehicle.
According to the Indio Police Department, the suspect — identified as Orlando Isaiah Griffin Ramirez — drove onto the school campus around 2:10 p.m. Authorities say he was considered armed and dangerous at the time of the incident.
Police detained Ramirez without incident before taking him into custody and booking him into the Benoit Detention Center.
Investigators say officers recovered methamphetamine, fentanyl, prescription pills, marijuana packaged for sale, a loaded firearm, and additional ammunition from the vehicle.
Authorities also confirmed that a juvenile was taken into custody following a search conducted at Ramirez’s residence.
The investigation remains ongoing.
