Palm Desert Concerts in the Park Series Returns with Rolling Stones Tribute Kickoff
PALM DESERT, CA — A longstanding desert tradition returned to center stage Thursday night as the Concerts in the Park series kicked off another season at the Civic Center Amphitheater. Drawing a crowd of hundreds, the evening combined perfect spring weather with the high-energy sounds of the legendary Rolling Stones.
The season opener featured Jumping Jack Flash, a premier tribute band that has spent two decades recreating the "Stones magic" for audiences worldwide. For many in attendance, the return of the series represents more than just free entertainment—it is a vital part of the community’s social fabric.
Community and Connection Under the Desert Sky
As the sun set over Palm Desert on May 7, 2026, attendees spread out blankets and lawn chairs across the grass, enjoying a night that residents described as the perfect blend of scenery and sound.
"Look where we live," said one concertgoer. "I get the privilege of being out in this beautiful weather, in this gorgeous park with the most amazing view and this wonderful music. How could you feel anything but great?"
The sentiment of neighborly connection was a recurring theme throughout the evening. For many, the Thursday night gatherings offer a rare chance to slow down and reconnect with neighbors in a relaxed, friendly environment.
What’s Next for the 2026 Season
The spring series is just beginning. The city has curated a diverse lineup for the remaining Thursday nights in May, all starting at 7:00 PM:
May 14: The Suffragettes Band (Pop and rock hits from the 80s to today)
May 21: The Funky Hippeez Show (Disco and dance favorites)
May 28: The Yellow Brick Band (A tribute to the music of Elton John)
Following the spring run, the series will take a hiatus during the peak summer months before returning to the Civic Center Amphitheater in October for a fall season. Admission to all concerts remains free to the public, with food trucks and concessions available on-site for those looking to turn the concert into a full picnic experience.
