An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Saturday, May 9, 2026!

An Extreme Heat Warning has been posted for the Coachella Valley-area for both Sunday and Monday as midday temperatures approach 110° both afternoons.

Today, the Valley will be under totally clear skies with gusty evening on-shore winds and above-normal high temps between 104° and 108°.

Highs on Sunday and Monday will be more typical of late-July... not early-May. Sunday's peak temps will range anywhere between 106° and 110°... Monday's numbers, 107° to 111°. See my city-by-city temperature forecasts for details.

By-the-way, you can expect totally clear skies through Tuesday.

The upper-level ridge of high pressure responsible for the excessive heat will weaken beginning Tuesday when Valley temps slip to around 103°, followed by thick high clouds and upper-90s on Wednesday.
