Earthquake Swarm Rattles Imperial County Saturday Evening

Nine earthquakes, including one 4.4-magnitude quake, rattled the Brawley area of Imperial County on Saturday evening, according to USGS.

The first quake, measuring 3.5-magnitude, struck at 4:14pm nearly two miles west-south-west of Brawley at a depth of just over eight and a half miles.

There were a series of at least 11 more earthquakes of magnitudes 2.6, 2.8, 3.5, 3.4, 3.1, 2.6, 4.4, 2.9, 2.7, 2.5, and 4.0 magnitude.

The largest quake, the 4.4 magnitude struck at 7:22pm at a depth of just over 9 miles. It was originally reported to be a magnitude 4.1 quake, but the US Geological Survey updated the magnitude.
