Nationwide Recall Alert: Salmonella Concerns Trigger Recall of Albright’s Raw Chicken Pet Food
Dog owners nationwide are being urged to check their labels following a voluntary recall by Albright’s Raw Pet Food. The Fort Wayne, Indiana-based company is pulling a single lot of its "Chicken Recipe for Dogs Complete and Balanced" formula after routine sampling by the FDA detected the presence of Salmonella.
The affected product is sold in one-pound frozen pouches (distributed in 30-pound cases) and carries the lot code C001730. These items have a "Best By" date of April 28, 2027. According to the company and the FDA, the product was distributed directly to consumers across the country, as well as to select retailers in California, Massachusetts, South Carolina, North Carolina, Wisconsin, and New York.
Salmonella can affect animals that consume the food, but it also poses a serious health risk to humans who handle the contaminated product. Symptoms in pets include lethargy, fever, vomiting, and bloody diarrhea. Humans exposed to the bacteria may experience nausea, abdominal cramping, and fever. Even if a pet does not show symptoms, they can still carry the bacteria and spread it to other animals or people in the household.
To date, no illnesses in humans or pets have been reported in connection with this recall. However, consumers who have the affected lot in their possession are advised to stop using it immediately. The product should be disposed of securely to prevent access by children, pets, or wildlife.
Those seeking a refund can contact Albright’s Raw Pet Food by submitting a receipt and photos of the product to info@albrightsraw.com. For further assistance, the company can be reached by phone at 866-729-4738.
