Traffic Alert: Major Signal Work Set for Busy Cathedral City Intersection This Week
Cathedral City residents and commuters should prepare for significant traffic delays early this week due to planned infrastructure improvements. Starting Monday, May 11, and continuing through Tuesday, May 12, crews will be conducting traffic signal work at the intersection of Cathedral Canyon Drive and Dinah Shore Drive.
The work is scheduled to begin each morning at 7:00 a.m. and will conclude around 5:30 p.m. both days. This project is part of a broader city-wide initiative to upgrade and modernize traffic signals for improved safety and efficiency across the valley.
Motorists traveling through the area should expect intermittent lane closures and temporary delays. City officials have noted that the traffic signals at the intersection may flash red at various times during the construction window. When signals are flashing red, drivers are reminded to treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
To avoid congestion, travelers are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes. Ramon Road, located just to the north of the project site, is recommended as a viable option for those looking to bypass the construction zone and minimize travel time.
