Apple Urges iPhone and iPad Users to Update Devices Amid Growing Security Concerns

Apple is urging iPhone and iPad users to install its newest operating system updates, warning that the latest versions address a significant number of security flaws that could leave devices exposed.
The company says iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 patch a lengthy list of vulnerabilities, and experts say the threat landscape is becoming more sophisticated, with hackers now using artificial intelligence to find new ways to attack phones and other devices.
Apple is also introducing support for end-to-end encrypted RCS messaging, though that feature is currently available only at the beta level.
Users can update their devices through the Settings app under General, then Software Update.
