Feel the Need, the Need to Celebrate: It's a Holiday-Packed Wednesday on the Calendar

First up, today is World Leprechaun Day. The Irish legend of leprechauns dates all the way back to the 8th century, making these mischievous little figures one of folklore's longest-running characters. The bigger mystery? Why Leprechaun Day lands on May 13th and not St. Patrick's Day. Nobody said holidays had to make sense.

Next on the calendar, International Hummus Day is here to celebrate one of the world's most beloved dips. Made from chickpeas, hummus has been winning over taste buds since the earliest known recipe appeared in 13th century Cairo, Egypt. Whether you're a devoted hummus fan or not, it's hard to argue with 800-plus years of history.

Now for the big one. Today marks the 40th anniversary of the original Top Gun, which debuted on May 13th, 1986.

And of course, no Top Gun celebration would be complete without a pop quiz. Jerry served up two multiple choice questions to test your knowledge of the films.

Think you know your Maverick trivia? Watch the video and find out.

  1. In a memorable scene at a local bar, Maverick and his friends serenade his love interest by singing along to a song on the jukebox. Which song is it?

A) Brown Eyed Girl

B) Sweet Caroline

C) You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'

  1. Only two characters from the original 1986 film appear in the 2022 sequel Top Gun Maverick. One is Tom Cruise's Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. The other is Val Kilmer's character Tom Kazansky, known throughout the film by his nickname. What is it?

A) Cougar

B) Iceman

C) Viper

Watch the video above to see if you got them right, and catch the Top Gun double feature at a Coachella Valley theater near you today.
