Firebirds drop game one of the Pacific Division Finals Wednesday night

The Coachella Valley Firebirds, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Seattle Kraken, were by defeated the Colorado Eagles at Acrisure Arena on Wednesday night in Game 1 of the best-of-five third round series by the final score of 3-0. Eagles’ netminder Trent Miner recorded his fourth shutout of the postseason, stopping all 20 Firebirds’ shots.
Colorado scored twice in the second period before sealing the victory with an empty net goal with 10 seconds left in the third period.
Coachella Valley’s powerplay finished the game 0-for-2 while the penalty kill went 1-for-1. Goaltender Nikke Kokko made 29 saves on 31 shots in the loss as Coachella Valley was outshot by Colorado 32-20.
Tonight’s game marked the professional debut for Seattle Kraken 2025 first round pick, Jake O’Brien. The 18-year-old was selected eighth overall in this past summer’s NHL Entry Draft.
The two teams hit the ice again this Friday, May 15th for Game 2 of the Pacific Division Finals. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. PT. Tickets start at just $23 at the Ticketmaster Box Office at Acrisure Arena (open at 10 a.m. on gameday!).
