Firebirds Open Pacific Division Finals at Home Against Colorado Eagles

The stage is set for playoff hockey in the Coachella Valley as the Coachella Valley Firebirds prepare to host the Colorado Eagles in Game 1 of the Pacific Division Finals tonight at Acrisure Arena.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. as fans prepare to pack the arena for another high-energy playoff matchup.

The Firebirds are coming off an emotional double-overtime victory over the Ontario Reign to advance to the third round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Team coverage from inside the arena described the atmosphere as the “calm before the Firebird storm” ahead of tonight’s game.

Analysts say the Firebirds’ aggressive forecheck and strong goaltending from Nikke Kokko have been key throughout the postseason.

Players including Jani Nyman and Oscar Fisker Molgaard have also stepped up offensively during the playoff run.

The matchup against Colorado presents a new challenge, with the Eagles bringing size on defense and standout postseason goaltender Trent Miner into the series.

The Firebirds will look to take an early series lead before the matchup shifts to Colorado later this week. Fans unable to attend can watch the game on KPSC My Firebirds TV.
