More Than 80 Dogs Rescued From Cabazon Home Are Now Looking for Families
More than 80 dogs rescued from a Cabazon property last month are now ready to find new homes, and Riverside County Animal Control needs the public's help to make that happen.
Animal Control officers removed 82 dogs from a residential property in Cabazon after investigators found the animals living in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. All of the dogs have since been evaluated by a veterinary team and completed a mandatory shelter hold. They range in size, breed, and age, and many show signs of high sociability, though they came from a difficult environment.
The dogs are now available for adoption at the Blythe Animal Shelter, located at 245 South Carlton Avenue. The shelter is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a lunch closure from noon to 1 p.m. All adoption fees are waived and include spay and neuter services, vaccinations, a microchip, and an engraved ID tag.
The urgency is real. Riverside County Animal Control says the department is currently at 247% over capacity for dogs and does not have kennel space to transfer the Cabazon rescues to other shelter locations. If you're not ready to adopt, fostering is another option that helps free up critical space across county shelters.
