Trump Arrives in Beijing for High-Stakes Two-Day Summit with Xi Jinping
President Trump has arrived in Beijing, where he will sit down with Chinese President Xi Jinping for a two-day summit covering a wide range of global concerns.
Trade agreements, aerospace, agriculture, and energy are all on the agenda, though the simmering conflict with Iran and growing instability in the Strait of Hormuz are expected to loom large over the talks.
Trump brought some of the country's most powerful business leaders along for the trip, including Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, signaling that economic ties will be central to the conversations.
The president has long described his relationship with Xi as strong, though analysts say this summit carries more pressure than either side is willing to admit publicly. Trump's first official event, a formal welcome by President Xi, is scheduled for 10 p.m. Eastern time tonight.
