Palm Springs Air Museum to Host Annual Memorial Day Flower Drop & Air Fair

PALM SPRINGS (CNS) - The Palm Springs Air Museum will host the annual
Memorial Day Flower Drop and Air Fair later this month, in which 5,000 flowers
will descend from the sky set to honor the nation's fallen service members.
  

The event will start at 10 a.m. May 25 with flight exhibitions at the
museum, at 745 North Gene Autry Trail, with the flower drop ceremony to follow
at 1 p.m. The event will also feature live music, food vendors, children's
activities and Warbird flight demonstrations and rides.
  

The 3-4 Missing Man Formation will honor all fallen U.S. service
members, commemorated the 50th anniversary of the ending of the Vietnam War and
will give attendees an opportunity to meet three Vietnam aviator honorees,
including Bronze Star recipient Gary Lucas, distinguished Flying Cross
recipient Frank Tullo and distinguished Flying Cross recipient Randy Zahn.
  

The formation will drop 5,000 red and white carnations, officials
said. White carnations represents veterans of WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam, and
red carnations will honor service members killed in recent conflicts, including
Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. in addition, a dozen red roses will be
included to honor Gold Star families.
  

This year's missing man formation will be flown by four vintage warbirds.
