Pet of the Week: Meet Chubbs!

Veronica Perez from Riverside County Animal Services stopped by NBC Palm Springs to introduce us to Chubbs, an absolutely irresistible three-year-old German Shepherd and Siberian Husky mix who had the entire studio smiling from the moment he walked in. Weighing in at 65 pounds, this tail-wagging, kiss-giving love bug has been at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus since February 2026, and he is more than ready to find his forever home.

Chubbs walks great on a leash, loves adventures, and makes fast friends with everyone he meets. He is also a fan of Riverside County's FIDO program, which allows anyone to take a shelter dog out for the day, complete with a backpack stocked with water, treats, bags, and a toy, giving dogs like Chubbs a much-needed break from kennel life.

Chubbs is available for adoption at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms (Animal ID: A1893772). Also looking for homes are Autumn (A1903892), a sweet one-and-a-half-year-old Husky and Lab mix who arrived in March, Onnolee (A1889295), a calm and cuddly two-year-old Shepherd mix who has been waiting since November, and Remy (A1914288), a three-year-old domestic shorthair cat who arrived May 1. It's also kitten season, so fosters are urgently needed!

Now through May 17, adoptions are completely FREE thanks to the BISSELL Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters event, sponsored at all Riverside County Animal Services locations. Every adopted pet is spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and receives an engraved name tag.
