An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Friday, May 15, 2026!

Advisories for wicked West winds this weekend have been issued for areas of Southern California.

Today, the Coachella Valley will see another afternoon of sunny skies, occasionally gusty Westerly winds, and slightly above-normal high temperatures in the upper-90s/lower-100s.

Because of a disturbance to our North, on-shore winds will become much stronger this weekend. In fact, a Wind Advisory has been posted for the West end of the Coachella Valley into the San Gorgonio Pass including area mountains and the High Desert between Saturday afternoon into Sunday evening.

Elevated dust and dirt may also become an issue.

Valley high temps will be running close-to-seasonal mid-May normals on a sunny Saturday afternoon, followed by filtered sunshine and slightly below-normal midday numbers in the lower-90s.

You can expect clear skies on Monday with much drier air as surface source-winds shift to a light Northerly flow. That's when we'll be under sunny skies with highs in the lower-90s and middle-of-the-day relative humidity just under 10%.
