Coachella is looking for its next city council member. Here's how to apply.
Coachella residents now have a chance to serve on their city council. The city opened applications this week to fill the seat left vacant when Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Frank Figueroa was appointed temporary mayor at the end of April, stepping in after former Mayor Steven Hernandez resigned in March following a felony conflict of interest conviction.
To be eligible, you must be a registered Coachella voter, at least 18 years old, and a U.S. citizen. The term runs through November 2026. Council members are expected to attend regular meetings held at 6 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at City Hall, and serve on various subcommittees and boards. The position comes with a nominal stipend.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26th. You can submit them here. For questions, contact Deputy City Clerk Delia Granados at cityclerk@coachella.org.
