Firebirds Look to Bounce Back in Game 2 Against Colorado Eagles in Pacific Division Finals

The Coachella Valley Firebirds are back on home ice tonight for Game 2 of the Pacific Division Finals against the Colorado Eagles, looking to even the series after a tough Game 1 loss.

Reporting live from Acrisure Arena, sports anchor Tim O’Brien said the team is expected to make adjustments following a Game 1 performance that head coach Derek Laxdal described as below expectations.

Colorado controlled much of the opening game on Wednesday, capitalizing on key opportunities and limiting the Firebirds’ offensive rhythm. One goal was scored on an empty net, but the overall result reflected Colorado’s strong defensive structure and physical play.

Injuries and lineup changes are also shaping tonight’s matchup. Defenseman Charlie Wright is expected to remain out after leaving Game 1 early, while Zach Uens has been recalled from Kansas City to help fill the gap. Forward Jacob Melanson, who missed Game 1, was seen preparing pregame and could return to the lineup.

The Firebirds are also expected to emphasize net-front presence and increased pressure on Colorado goaltender Trent Miner, who has recorded multiple shutouts in the postseason.

Despite the setback, the Firebirds remain focused on a 60-minute effort to regain control of the series on home ice. Game 2 will be followed by continued coverage and analysis later tonight on NBC Palm Springs.

Tim O’Brien will also be traveling with the team to Colorado for upcoming road games, providing continued playoff coverage as the series progresses.
