Firebirds Prepare for Game 2 After Opening Loss in Division Finals

With doors opening and fans beginning to fill the arena, excitement is building at Acrisure Arena as the Coachella Valley Firebirds prepare for Game 2 of their Pacific Division Finals matchup against the Colorado Eagles.

Firebirds broadcaster Evan Pivnick joined the broadcast team ahead of puck drop, reflecting on the team’s Game 1 performance and what adjustments fans can expect moving forward.

Pivnick said the Firebirds appeared slow out of the gate in the series opener but showed signs of life in the third period, suggesting that momentum could carry into tonight’s matchup. He pointed to the emotional toll of their previous Game 5 overtime win over the Ontario Reign as a possible factor in the slow start.

The Firebirds, he added, have shown resilience throughout the season and will be looking to even the series before heading to Colorado, where they have had success during the regular season.

He also highlighted the energy of the opposing crowd environment in Colorado, noting the smaller, louder venue and intense atmosphere as challenges the team will need to overcome on the road.

Despite the opening loss, optimism remains high inside the Firebirds organization as fans continue to pack the arena ahead of the 7 p.m. puck drop, with coverage available on local broadcasts and streaming platforms.
