Palm Springs Animal Shelter Hosts Free Classes for Neonatal Kitten Care

Kitten season has officially arrived in the Coachella Valley, and the Palm Springs Animal Shelter is calling on the community for assistance in caring for its youngest residents. To prepare potential fosters for the task, the shelter is hosting a series of free bottle-feeding classes designed to teach the specific skills needed to care for newborn kittens, some of which are only a few days old.

The one-hour training sessions cover the fundamentals of neonatal kitten care, including proper feeding techniques and general health tips to ensure fosters stay healthy and comfortable. This specialized care is critical for kittens that arrive at the shelter without their mothers, as they require around-the-clock attention and precise feeding schedules to survive.

Two classes have been scheduled to accommodate interested volunteers. The first session is taking place tonight, May 15, with a second class scheduled for Wednesday, May 27. Both sessions begin at 5:30 p.m. at the shelter facility.

Community members interested in attending the classes or becoming foster parents must first sign up for the shelter's volunteer program. Applications and registration details can be found on their official website at palmspringsanimalshelter.org. Shelter officials emphasize that fostering not only saves lives but also provides essential space within the facility for other animals in need during the busy summer months.
