Firebirds drop game three in the best-of-five series with Colorado

The Coachella Valley Firebirds, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Seattle Kraken, were defeated by the Colorado Eagles at Blue Arena on Sunday night in Game 3 of the best-of-five third round series by the final score of 4-1. Lleyton Roed netted a shorthanded goal for the Firebirds’ only strike of the game before the Eagles scored four unanswered goals to lead the series 2-1.

 

Coachella Valley was outshot by Colorado 36-25. Goaltender Nikke Kokko made 32 saves in the loss. The Firebirds powerplay finished the game 0-for-3 and the penalty went 4-for-4.

 

The Firebirds look to stave off elimination for the fifth time this postseason as Game 4 will be this Wednesday, May 20thin Loveland, CO. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m. PT.
