Brush Fire Near Anza Burns Nearly Three Acres, Forward Progress Stopped

A brush fire along Highway 74 just east of Anza burned nearly three acres Monday afternoon, prompting a swift response from firefighters to protect nearby homes.

The fire was reported just before 1:40 p.m. near Skyview and Toro Vista Drives in the rural community near Pinyon Pines. Crews from the Riverside County Fire Department and CAL FIRE responded to the scene, working quickly to stop the flames before they could threaten surrounding properties.

Water-dropping helicopters were also brought in to assist crews battling the blaze from above.

Officials said the fire’s forward spread was stopped just before 2:30 p.m., limiting the burn area to nearly three acres.

No injuries were reported, and investigators are still working to determine what sparked the fire. As temperatures rise and fire danger increases across the region, officials continue urging residents to remain cautious in wildfire-prone areas.
