Jury Rules Musk Waited Too Long to Sue OpenAI

A jury ruled Monday that Elon Musk waited too long to sue OpenAI, finding his lawsuit was barred by the statute of limitations.

Musk had sued OpenAI and its leaders, including CEO Sam Altman, alleging Altman had deceived him when the company transitioned from a nonprofit into a for-profit business. Musk helped found and fund OpenAI in 2015, but left in 2018. Altman has claimed Musk wanted total control of the company before his departure.

After weeks of testimony, jurors determined the claims were filed too late under the law, ending the case before it could reach a verdict on the underlying allegations.
