Former PSUSD Superintendent Announces Run for School Board
Less than a year after retiring as superintendent of the Palm Springs Unified School District, Dr. Tonatiuh "Tony" Signoret is looking to stay involved, announcing his candidacy for the PSUSD Board of Education's Trustee Area 4 seat in the November 3rd General Election.
The seat is currently held by Charlie Ervin, whose term expires this year.
Signoret spent more than 35 years in public education, working as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent before becoming PSUSD's superintendent. He retired in June 2025. His campaign is centered on student achievement, school safety, and what he calls keeping politics out of the classroom.
"This campaign isn't about politics. It's about protecting our schools from politics and keeping the focus where it belongs: on our kids," Signoret said.
His campaign has already drawn endorsements from former U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, former Palm Springs Mayor Geoff Kors, and groups like the Palm Springs Teachers Association.
