70mm Film Festival Returns to Palm Springs’ Historic Camelot Theatre
Movie lovers in Palm Springs will soon have the chance to experience films the way many cinephiles say they were meant to be seen.
The 70mm Festival is returning to the historic Camelot Theatres for its second year, running May 29 through May 31.
The festival will feature a lineup of iconic films presented in 70mm format, including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia and West Side Story, along with contemporary titles like Boogie Nights.
Festival organizers say 70mm film offers a significantly larger image than traditional 35mm film, creating a sharper, more immersive moviegoing experience on the big screen.
The event begins the evening of May 29 with a screening of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, the classic science-fiction film directed by Steven Spielberg.
Organizers say the goal is to continue expanding the festival each year as audience interest grows, while offering a mix of classic and modern films for moviegoers of all tastes.
Showtimes and tickets are available at PS 70mm Fest.
