Desert Sands Educator Named 2027 Riverside County Teacher of the Year

A longtime educator in the Desert Sands Unified School District has earned one of Riverside County’s top honors in education.

Nanette Davis-Kirchhevel was named 2027 Riverside County Teacher of the Year during a surprise celebration at Palm Desert Charter Middle School.

The recognition was led by Riverside County Superintendent of Schools, Edwin Gomez, who honored Davis-Kirchhevel for her dedication to students and the broader school community.

During the celebration, Davis-Kirchhevel reflected on the importance of embracing and supporting the wider community through education, highlighting outreach programs and learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

District leaders praised her commitment to connecting students with meaningful educational experiences and fostering strong community involvement.

Davis-Kirchhevel has served students in the Desert Sands Unified School District for 26 years, building a long career focused on teaching and mentorship.
