Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Breaks Ground on New Workforce Training Store
The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission has broken ground on a new project designed to help people experiencing homelessness rebuild their lives through workforce training and employment opportunities.
Construction is now underway on the new Life Resale Boutique No. 2 in Indio. The facility, located on Van Buren Street, will serve as both a resale store and a hands-on workforce training center for individuals enrolled in the rescue mission’s residential programs.
Officials say participants will receive practical experience in retail operations, including customer service, cashier training, inventory management, and workplace readiness skills. The goal is to help residents build resumes with current work experience before transitioning into permanent employment.
The new location is expected to open this fall and will also continue providing affordable items to community members in need.
The site carries historical significance for the organization as well. Mission leaders say it is located where the rescue mission first began serving the community back in 1971.
