Verona Fire Near Homeland Reaches 67% Containment

The Verona Fire burning north of Homeland is now 67 percent contained after scorching 648 acres and destroying several outbuildings.

Fire officials say minimal fire activity was observed today as crews continued strengthening containment lines and conducting mop-up operations throughout the burn area.

More than 500 personnel remain assigned to the incident, including engine crews, hand crews, and water tenders working to fully secure the fire perimeter.

Authorities also confirmed that evacuation orders previously issued for nearby residents have now been lifted.

Damage inspection teams continue assessing impacted properties as investigators work to determine the cause of the fire.
