Palm Springs Air Museum Ready for Annual Memorial Day Flower Drop and Air Fair
PALM SPRINGS, California — The Palm Springs Air Museum is welcoming visitors for its highly anticipated annual Memorial Day Flower Drop and Air Fair, a poignant community tradition dedicated to honoring the memory of the nation's fallen military service members.
The holiday event offers an array of programming that blends historical education with family-friendly entertainment. Attendees can look forward to dynamic flight demonstrations, live musical performances, and rare opportunities to view and book rides inside vintage warbird aircraft. A variety of interactive activities are also scheduled on-site to keep children and families engaged throughout the day.
The Historic Carnation Tribute
The undisputed highlight of the day occurs at 1:00 PM. Visitors will turn their eyes to the sky as a squadron of vintage aircraft executes a solemn "Missing Man" formation flight over the museum tarmac.
During the flyover, the planes will release a stunning cascade of 5,000 red and white carnations over the facility. The falling blossoms serve as a powerful visual salute to American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Following the aerial drop, guests are traditionally invited to collect the flowers from the grounds to keep as personal tokens of remembrance.
Commemorating the Vietnam War
In addition to paying tribute to all fallen heroes, organizers noted that this year’s ceremony holds significant historical weight. The presentation features a dedicated recognition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the official end of the Vietnam War, providing a special moment of reflection for the generation of veterans who served during the conflict.
Regular museum admission applies for the event, and organizers encourage attendees to arrive early to secure viewing spots on the tarmac for the afternoon flight demonstrations.
