Palm Springs Police Leader Honored at Memorial Day Luncheon

A longtime employee of the Palm Springs Police Department was honored Monday during a Memorial Day luncheon in Cathedral City.

Heather Topliff, the department’s Police Services Manager, received a special recognition at the 20th Annual Memorial Day Awards Luncheon, hosted by AMVETS Post 66 and Veterans For Peace.

Topliff has dedicated 25 years to public safety communications, beginning her career as a dispatcher in 2001 before rising through the ranks to oversee the department’s dispatch and records divisions. Officials praised her leadership, crisis management skills and commitment to improving emergency response operations.

During the ceremony, Topliff credited her colleagues for helping her reach the milestone, while emphasizing that Memorial Day is ultimately about honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.

The luncheon also recognized Raul Ruiz with the Dr. Paul Farmer Memorial Award for humanitarian service. In addition, Nicole Shapiro was honored for her contributions to the local community.

The annual Memorial Day event celebrates service, sacrifice and leadership while paying tribute to fallen military members.
