An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Tuesday, May 26, 2026!
While an upper-level cut-off closed-low moves through the Southwest over the next 72-hours, on-shore winds will be an issue for areas of Southern California through Thursday.
Along with a Wind Advisory for Western Riverside County, an Air Quality Alert has been posted through Wednesday for the Coachella Valley because of elevated dust and dirt.
The strongest winds will occur during the late-afternoon and evening hours, especially through the San Gorgonio Pass and Desert Hot Springs areas where wind gusts could approach 60 mph.
Those wind-prone areas of the Coachella Valley can expect winds to be an issue today and tomorrow, especially around sunset both days.
This disturbance will also play a role in a slight cooldown. Valley high temperatures will slip from around 90° today to the upper-70s/lower-80s on both Wednesday and Thursday.
