Palm Springs Reopens Downtown Splash Pad with Ribbon-Cutting Celebration Today
PALM SPRINGS, California — As the summer heat arrives in the Coachella Valley, the City of Palm Springs is officially turning the water back on at the Downtown Park splash pad today.
To mark the occasion, the city's Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting an official grand reopening and ribbon-cutting celebration this afternoon at 4:00 PM. The free community event is open to the public and will feature plenty of water fun, arts and crafts, and interactive water safety demonstrations designed for families looking to help their kids cool off safely.
Palm Springs Mayor Naomi Soto, along with members of the City Council, City Manager Scott Stiles, and Parks and Recreation Director Nicholas Gonzalez, are expected to attend the festivities at Downtown Park, located at 230 Museum Drive.
The gathering offers an entirely free opportunity for local residents and families to beat the rising desert temperatures and kick off the season at the newly restored downtown hangout spot.
