Desert Hot Springs Police Seize More Than One Pound of Fentanyl During Arrest

Newly released video shows an arrest by the Desert Hot Springs Police Department that led to the seizure of more than one pound of fentanyl.

Police say 35-year-old Jose Luis Gutierrez was arrested Friday after officers pulled him over for a traffic violation in Desert Hot Springs.

During the stop, officers discovered Gutierrez had an active felony warrant. Investigators say police then observed narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle before conducting a search.

According to authorities, that search uncovered more than a pound of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, Xanax pills, four loaded firearms, and more than 200 rounds of ammunition.

Gutierrez was taken into custody without incident and booked into the John Benoit Detention Center.
