Desert Hot Springs Man Arrested After Drugs and Gun Found During Palm Springs Traffic Stop

A Desert Hot Springs man was arrested after police say officers found drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop in Palm Springs.

According to the Palm Springs Police Department, 64-year-old Philip Yeakel was pulled over yesterday near Francis and Sunnyview Drives. Authorities say Yeackel was also wanted on felony charges at the time of the stop.

During the investigation, officers reportedly discovered approximately two pounds of methamphetamine along with a shotgun inside the vehicle.

Yeackel was arrested on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale, transportation of narcotics for sale, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Police say he was taken into custody without incident.
