Elderly Man Arrested for Alleged Possession of Narcotics, Firearm

PALM SPRINGS (CNS) - A 64-year-old man accused of being a wanted
subject was behind bars today for alleged possession of narcotics and a firearm
in Palm Springs.
  

Philip Robert Yeakel of Desert Hot Springs was booked Tuesday on
suspicion of possession for sales, transportation for sales and a felon in
possession of a firearm, according to Lt. Mike Torres of the Palm Springs
Police Department.
  

Bail information was not immediately available.
  

Police said a traffic stop was conducted after officers saw a vehicle
driven by a wanted felony suspect at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in the area of Francis
and Sunny View drives. It was unclear what type of felony or felonies Yeakel
was wanted for.
  

Officers allegedly found roughly two pounds of suspected
methamphetamine and a shotgun during the investigation.
  

Yeakel was taken into custody without incident.
