'Tuner' Brings Heart and Mystery to Valley Theaters This Weekend

A new thriller hitting valley theaters this weekend is earning some high praise. "Tuner," which follows the world of piano tuners drawn into unexpected trouble, opens locally this weekend, and NBC Palm Springs film critic Manny the Movie Guy says it's well worth your time.

Manny spoke with stars Leo Woodall, Dustin Hoffman, and Havana Rose Liu ahead of the release. Woodall, who plays lead character Niki White, described how the role pulled him in through the character's pain. Niki lives with a hyper-acute intolerance to loud noise that forced him out of performing and into tuning, and Woodall said that vulnerability is what connected him to the character. "When you can understand someone's pain, it connects you in a seriously deep way," he said.

Manny called the film "a film played in the key of perfection." "Tuner" is playing in valley theaters now.
