Average Riverside County Gas Price Drops For Ninth Consecutive Day

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular
gasoline in Riverside County dropped today for the ninth consecutive day,
decreasing 1.9 cents to $5.946.

The average price has dropped 11.7 cents over the past nine days,
including 2 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price
Information Service. It is 9.4 cents less than one week ago but 3.5 cents more
than one month ago and $1.312 higher than one year ago.

``With oil prices dipping below $100 a barrel, we are seeing gas
prices drop throughout California and nationwide,'' Kandace Redd, the
Automobile Club of Southern California's senior public affairs specialist, said
in a statement released Thursday.

``It's hard to predict if that trend will continue, but if it does,
Southern California drivers could see average gas prices drop below $6 a gallon
soon.''

The national average price dropped for the eighth consecutive day,
decreasing 3.5 cents to $4.391. It has dropped 17.3 cents over the past eight
days, including 3.3 cents Thursday.

The streak of decreases follows a four-day streak of increases
totaling 5.1 cents.

The national average price is 16.1 cents less than one week ago but
16.2 cents more than one month ago and $1.224 higher than one year ago.
