Palm Springs Power Open Season in Pursuit of Fourth Straight Championship

Baseball is back in the desert as the Palm Springs Power open their new season tonight at Palm Springs Stadium.

The three-time defending California Premier Collegiate League champions are beginning their quest for a fourth consecutive title with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. under expected temperatures in the low 80s.

Team President Andrew Starke says opening day always brings excitement and optimism as fans, sponsors, and season ticket holders return to the ballpark for the start of another summer season.

Manager Casey Dill, now entering his 10th year with the organization, says this year’s team will look very different from recent championship squads. Unlike previous seasons that featured several returning players, Dill says the Power will rely on an almost entirely new roster along with a brand-new coaching staff.

Despite the changes, Dill says expectations remain high for the organization as the team works to maintain the level of success built over the last several years.

Opening weekend festivities continue Saturday with free admission for children. On Sunday, Palm Springs Stadium will also host a charity exhibition game featuring members of the Palm Springs Police and Fire Associations.

The Palm Springs Power have become one of the most successful summer collegiate baseball programs in the region, drawing fans from across the Coachella Valley each season.
