Marilyn 100: Palm Springs Goes Platinum for a Centennial Celebration and World Record Attempt

Greater Palm Springs Pride is going for a world record tonight as part of Marilyn 100, a centennial celebration honoring what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday.
The centerpiece is an official world record attempt for the largest gathering of Marilyn Monroe look-alikes ever recorded, running from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Downtown Park, centered around the city's "Forever Marilyn" statue. Photographers will be capturing the moment from the ground and the air during what organizers say is timed to catch golden hour light.
The broader Marilyn 100 festivities kick off at 3 p.m. with a birthday bash hosted by TV personality Scott Nevins, featuring a live band, food vendors, a DJ, and a special appearance by Shelley Michelle as Marilyn Monroe. After the record attempt, a free Cher'd Tribute Concert runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by DJ sets and special guest performances through 9. From 7 p.m. until 2 a.m., the celebration spills citywide with film screenings at the Plaza Theatre and Palm Springs Cultural Center, drag shows, gallery showcases, and immersive dining experiences.
The event is free to attend and open to all ages, though only registered participants in full look-alike attire will count toward the world record total.
