UFC Fight at the White House: Free Tickets for Some Service Members, With Strings Attached

Some uniformed service members will have a chance to attend a UFC fight at the White House next month, but the tickets come with conditions.

The Pentagon is directing commanders to hand out free tickets only to service members who meet the military's new fitness standards, which include a specific waist-to-height ratio requirement that took effect in January. Commanders have also been asked to give tickets specifically to what the guidance calls "genuine UFC fans," preferably those coming from outside the Washington area.

A source familiar with the Pentagon's guidance says the Department of Defense wants attendees who will look good on camera. Any service member who receives a ticket will still be responsible for getting themselves there.
