Amazon Donates $80,000 to Fight Summer Hunger in the Coachella Valley
Amazon is stepping up efforts to fight hunger in the Coachella Valley through a major donation and volunteer partnership with FIND Food Bank.
Last week, Amazon employees visited FIND’s warehouse in Indio as part of the food bank’s fifth annual Summer Hunger Initiative, helping support families, children, and seniors facing food insecurity during the summer months.
The company presented an $80,000 donation, which officials say will help provide more than 300,000 meals to local residents in need.
Amazon employees also volunteered at the warehouse, helping sort and prepare essential food items that will be distributed through more than 445 summer meal and mobile food partners across the region.
FIND officials say summer can be an especially difficult time for families as children lose access to school meal programs, increasing the demand for food assistance.
The partnership marks another major investment in hunger relief efforts across the desert, with Amazon reportedly contributing more than $200,000 over the years to help combat food insecurity in the Coachella Valley.
