Amazon Donates $80,000 to FIND Regional Food Bank for Summer Hunger Push

FIND Regional Food Bank received an $80,000 donation from Amazon on Wednesday as part of the food bank's 5th Annual Summer Hunger Initiative. The money is expected to cover more than 300,000 meals for local families, children, and seniors over the summer months.
FIND officials noted that the summer months tend to hit food-insecure households hard. Kids lose access to school meals, and household costs don't let up. The food bank says the donation comes at a much-needed time, as they manage serving more than 122,000 people a month across eastern Riverside and southern San Bernardino counties.
“We are incredibly grateful for Amazon’s continued partnership and commitment to our community,” said Debbie Espinosa, President & CEO of FIND Regional Food Bank. “Their generosity and volunteer support help ensure local families have access to nutritious food during one of the most challenging times of the year for many households.”
On top of the donation, twenty Amazon employees also volunteered at the Indio warehouse, assembling 12 pallets of food for more than 445 Summer Kids Cases, including cereal, peanut butter, fruit cups, and macaroni and cheese. Those will be distributed through 38 mobile agency partners across the region.
