An NBC Palm Springs Tropical Update... Amanda!

Tropical Depression One-E strengthened into a Tropical Storm Wednesday morning and currently has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph while moving the Northwest at a forward speed of 8 mph.

Although Amanda will strengthen slightly over the next 24-hours, this short-lived system will not become a Hurricane. Wind shear and drier air will play roles in dissipating Amanda by the weekend.
