An NBC Palm Springs Tropical Update on Thursday, June 4, 2026!
The end is near for Tropical Storm Amanda over the Northeast Pacific as it encounters upper-level wind shear while ingesting drier air. Amanda is expected to be downgraded to Tropical Depression status by this weekend.
A Tropical Wave a few hundred miles WSW of Acapulco is moving WNW and will parallel the Mexican coastline over the Pacific. Looking at the latest data, it looks like this disturbance will struggle to become organized. The National ...Hurricane Center puts the possibility of development into a Tropical Storm at 80% in around a week.
Another Tropical Wave -- this one just to the West of Central America -- also looks like it will have problems with development. Regardless, the NHC puts its Tropical Storm chances at 70% by next week.
