Cathedral City Library Serving as Cooling Center Through October

As temperatures begin climbing across the Coachella Valley, the Cathedral City Library is once again serving as an official cooling center for residents seeking relief during extreme heat.

The library, located on Date Palm Drive, will remain open as a designated cooling center through October 15, providing a safe, air-conditioned place for community members to cool off during dangerous heat events.

Officials say residents are encouraged to take advantage of the space when temperatures become extreme, especially vulnerable populations including seniors, children and those without reliable air conditioning.

Hours of operation are:

• Mon, Tues, Thurs, Sat: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

• Wed: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM

• Sun: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

• Friday: Closed

City leaders are reminding residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat and seek cool indoor spaces when temperatures rise.
