Coachella City Council Approves Temporary Data Center Moratorium

The City of Coachella has unanimously approved a temporary 45-day moratorium on all new data center project applications within city limits.

The action immediately pauses consideration of Stronghold Power’s proposed data center project on the city’s east side and gives the City Council additional time to explore long-term solutions and potential regulations.

The decision follows more than three hours of public comment, with residents expressing overwhelming opposition to data center development in the region.
