Manny the Movie Guy Reviews ‘Scary Movie’ and ‘Masters of the Universe’
Moviegoers have two very different options at theaters this weekend: a return to horror-comedy chaos and a revival of a beloved 1980s fantasy franchise.
According to Manny the Movie Guy, the latest installment in the Scary Movie series delivers plenty of nostalgia thanks to the return of original stars Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans, and Shawn Wayans.
The film spoofs modern horror hits while maintaining the franchise's signature blend of slapstick comedy and outrageous humor. While Manny said some jokes land better than others, fans of the series are likely to enjoy seeing the original cast reunite. He awarded the film two out of four kisses.
Meanwhile, the new live-action Masters of the Universe brings He-Man back to the big screen with Nicholas Galitzine in the title role and Jared Leto portraying Skeletor.
Manny praised the film's visual effects, action sequences, and faithfulness to the classic cartoon. Although he noted the first half moves slowly, he said the adventure picks up once the story returns to Eternia. He ultimately gave the film three out of four kisses, calling it a fun and heartfelt update that surpasses the 1987 version.
For Manny, "Masters of the Universe" is the stronger choice for moviegoers this weekend.

More than 2,000 rescues — and the year isn’t over yet. Santa Clemente lifeguards are keeping a close eye on the Pacific as they prepare for potentially stronger surf and bigger waves this winter. From Tower Zero, lifeguards monitor the entire beach and use cameras to spot trouble in the water. One of their biggest concerns? Rip currents, which can pull swimmers far from shore. With more rescues already this year than all of last year, lifeguards say the key is simple: be ready before someone needs help. #SanClemente #Lifeguards #OceanSafety #RipCurrents #BeachSafety SurfSafety SouthernCalifornia PacificOcean NBCPalmSprings
