Palm Valley School to Close Permanently After Funding Falls Through
Palm Valley School will permanently close its doors at the end of June after school leaders announced that a critical charitable donation intended to support operations for the upcoming academic year fell through.
In a letter sent to parents, the school's Board of Trustees explained that the unexpected loss of funding, coupled with ongoing enrollment challenges, left the board with no choice but to file for bankruptcy and cease operations.
The announcement has left many families stunned, with parents describing the news as devastating for students, staff and the broader school community.
Palm Valley School has served families in the Coachella Valley for decades and has been known for its college preparatory curriculum and independent school environment.
According to the letter, school officials had been relying on a charitable contribution to help stabilize finances and continue operations into the next school year. When that funding did not materialize, the board determined that closure was unavoidable.
The school is expected to officially cease operations on June 30.
School leaders have not yet released additional details regarding student transitions, staff impacts or the bankruptcy process. Families are now working to secure alternative educational options ahead of the upcoming school year.
The closure marks the end of a longstanding educational institution in the Coachella Valley and leaves many parents and students facing an unexpected transition just weeks before the start of summer.
