Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage to Close Permanently Following Financial Collapse and Lost Donation
RANCHO MIRAGE, California — Palm Valley School, a historic fixture of the Coachella Valley educational landscape for over seven decades, will permanently close its doors at the end of this month. The sudden announcement came Friday afternoon in a somber letter dispatched by the school's Board of Trustees to parents and staff, revealing that a vital charitable donation intended to sustain the institution had completely collapsed.
The loss of the highly anticipated funding, coupled with a severe decline in student enrollment, left school administrators with no viable path forward to maintain operations for the upcoming school year. Board members confirmed that the school has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. According to internal communications, enrollment for the upcoming school year sat at just 160 students, creating an insurmountable budgetary deficit exceeding 3 million dollars.
