An NBC Palm Springs Tropical Update on Monday, June 8, 2026!
While the first named tropical system of the NE Pacific Hurricane Season -- Tropical Storm Amanda -- did not survive the weekend, there are two new systems to report on.
Tropical Storm Boris -- with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph -- is just off-shore of the Acapulco area of Southern Mexico. Because this system is moving to the North, its interaction with land will tear Boris apart, but not before it drops torrential rain over the this region.
Tropical Depression Three-E -- 35 mph winds -- is located off of the Pacific coast of Nicaragua and is currently moving to the North. This Depression will strengthen to Tropical Storm Cristina by Tuesday, but will not become a Hurricane. Although a slight turn to the Northwest is likely, its interaction with land between the El Salvador/Guatemala border will spell the end of this Storm.
