La Quinta Offering Free Spay and Neuter Services for Pet Owners

La Quinta residents with dogs or cats can now get their pets spayed or neutered for free, thanks to a new voucher program from the city in partnership with Animal Samaritans.

The program covers the full surgery, post-surgical pain medication, an e-collar, and a microchip, all at no charge. Residents can pick up a voucher at La Quinta City Hall. Each household is limited to two vouchers. A valid La Quinta photo ID or driver's license is required to qualify.

Once you have a voucher, call Animal Samaritans at 760-601-3755 to schedule an appointment. Surgeries will take place at the Animal Samaritans Thousand Palms Clinic. Pet owners must bring the original voucher to their appointment, as photocopies will not be accepted.

The program is available for owned pets only and does not cover stray or feral animals.

More information is available at animalsamaritans.org.
